Southard Wins MSAA Titles

The PHS Junior Captured the 200M and 400M

Nate Southard was crowned a Mid-State Activities Association champion Thursday. Southard won the crowns at the 2008 MSAA track and field championships in Larned. The PHS junior captured the 200M (22.91) and 400M (50.36). His 150-4 javelin throw landed him second.

Pratt was third in the team competition with 60 points. Scott City (157) won the team title. Ulysses (105) occupied third. Paul Harris dueled, but couldn’t overcome Scott City’s Trace Hendrick.

Harris ran the 800M in 1:58.93 and 1600M in 4:44, finishing behind Hendrick (1:58.02) and (4:36).
John Rowland, who missed part of the season with an injury, claimed the 100M dash runner-up spot (11.11).

The Greenbacks now focus on the 2008 KSHSAA 4A Colby Track and Field events begin at 3 p.m. and prelims 4:30 p.m. The finals are 30 minutes after prelims. Pratt, Abilene, Andale, Buhler, Cheney, Colby Concordia, Goodland, Haven, Hesston, Kingman, Hugoton, Smoky Valley, Nickerson, Russell, and Ulysses will compete for spots at the 2008 KSHSAA 4A state championships in Wichita May 23-24. The top four Colby finishers advance to states.
