Liberty Middle School came up a little short in their first
football game of the season, falling to Hays-Kennedy 16-6 Thursday
afternoon at Zerger Field.
The Greenbacks finished with 96 total yards of offense, and 84 of
those yards came on the ground.
Skylar Dean picked up nearly half of that while scoring Liberty's
only touchdown on a 39 yard run in the third quarter.
Greg Infield had eight tackles and a fumble recovery to lead the
Greenback defense. Shane McEachern chipped in with 7.5 tackles, and
Anthony Cannata had five. Mitchell Baird recovered a fumble, and
Dean sacked the Irish quarterback once.
"Linemen Jordan Newby and Jarod Gilmore did a good job of picking
up the defensive blitzes," LMS coach Mike Forshee said.
Liberty's next game will be Thursday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is set for
4 p.m. at Zerger Field.
