After a strong January of practices, Pratt High Forensics will compete at its first invitational meet at Circle High School on Sat. Jan. 30 in Towanda. The team is growing with 31 students involved. With Mav Bishop, Katie Hart, Payson Maydew, Ivy McAnarney, Adi Millen, Savan Patel, Will Shoup, and Britney Woody returning as varsity members, the team hopes to start out strong.
Students will mostly double-enter this weekend for the Circle tournament. Competing in Poetry Interpretation will be Cassidy Hullman, Rachel Lattin, and Payson Maydew, who competed at state last year in this event. In Prose, Mav Bishop, Rebecka Nickel, and Will Shoup. For Informative Speaking, two varsity members return: Savan Patel and Katie Hart. Katie has gone to state competitions for this event in the last two years. For the speaking event, Original Oration, two newcomers plan to compete: Jordi Garrett and Mindi Popovich with persuasive speeches over volunteering with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and over cutting down media violence.
In the Acting events, Grayson Hostetler and Payson Maydew will be performing a Duet Act. Meanwhile for Improvised Duet Acting (IDA), Mav Bishop and Will Shoup return to compete after almost making it to state finals in this event with a seventh place finish. Savan Patel and Katie Hart will also compete in this event with novices Grayson Hostetler and Cassidy Hullman trying IDA for the first time.
