Students in Ms. Kohman's Business Law class learn first hand about the Kansas corrections department by touring the Eldorado Correctional Facility.   They learned about the responsibility to obey laws in our country, the role of ethics and values in our legal system, they learned about how various ethical systems can cause conflict, they learned about what the Kansas legislature feels is important rights for those incarcerated and what kinds of values they place on those incarcerated.  They also found out that Kansas has one of the most proactive corrections department in the country and that Eldorado is one of the top facilities for caring for the rights of their workers as well as their inmates.  Students were able to learn the differences between crime levels as well as the differences between incarceration levels.  Students were also told that Eldorado and most of the Kansas Corrections facilities are continually developing programs for inmates with the goal in mind to create productive self-sufficient citizens because 90% of the inmates currently imprisoned will one day be your neighbor, they strive to meet this goal by allowing and encouraging growth and developing skills to be a productive citizen within these programs.
