LMS Play

November 08, 2017

For the first time in over a decade, Liberty Middle School will perform a play for the public on Friday, Nov. 10th at 7:30 p.m. in LMS Auditorium. Admission will be $5 per person, and students will bring The Girl with the Golden Locks, by Brian D. Taylor, to life on stage.

In this play where the fairy tale world meets spy novel, Agent Gold, Agent Red, and Agent White (Amelia McCaskey, Corinne Donnenwerth, and Tess Clarkson) battle the destructive forces of the fairy tale world, along with Chief (Hannah Gordon), Agent Wolf (Trace Mehlhorn), "M" (Libby Schaefer), and Little Pig (Hanna Gordon).

Meanwhile the Three Bears, played by Carlos Garcia Pedroza, Jason Brown, and Grace May, try to rule the world with Jack (of beanstalk fame, and played by Jackson Baker) and the High Order of Witches (Megan Younie, Elizabeth Hensley, and Sarah Lamatsch). In a surprise move, seven sneaky dwarves help the agents with their task (Jack Barker, Rielyn Fleming, Grant McAtee, Emaline Cline, Logan Goemann, Brenna Stegman, and Kalea Taylor). Supporting characters in this battle are Jack's Mom (Alyssa McGraw) and the C.O.W. (Blake Bare).

Along the way, the agents also encounter Puss in Boots (much like the character in Shrek and played by Jesse Kemper) Billy Goat (Jeremiah Westerhaus), and a group of giants (Caleb Powell, Darrian Cox, Kierra Messick, Kyndra Estes, Kendra Prieto, and Keimarla Thompson).

Backstage crew members, Owen Nickelson and Maddox Riffey, have aided Director Rose Beilman.

In addition, a group of high school students have volunteered the past six weeks to help run rehearsals. Elise Coykendall designed sound and graphic art, and she will run lights as well. David Mathes, Kahrie Stegman, Lucas Baker, Katie Strobel, Myka Grayson, Abby Domann, Amber Jellison Harris, Coleton Cummins, Crystal Lopez, and Madalynn Wilson have all helped with assistant directing.

Volunteer Rhonda Westerhaus will run box office for the show. Admission is only available at the LMS lobby starting at 7 p.m. Friday night.
