The first open house to welcome the
public to the new Southwest Elementary
School was held September 2, 1962. Since then, many changes have
taken place to provide students with quality experiences designed
to prepare them for the future. Southwest is now the 4th and 5th
grade attendance center for Pratt USD#382.
Student learning is the focus at Southwest,
and we encourage community support and parental participation.
Outdoor facilities used by students and patrons in the neighborhood
include OWLS (Outdoor Wildlife Learning Site), a walking trail and
bridge, and modern playground equipment.
Members of the Southwest Parent-Faculty
Organization (SPFO) work hard to offer students extra benefits. To
that end, SPFO holds the annual Southwest Carnival, an evening of
games and activities for the whole family designed to provide
funding for field trips, library books, a Ken-a-vision microscope
and TV, and quality playground equipment. Southwest students come
first.
