COVID Update - March 5, 2021

Video link

Greenback Family,

We are moving to Green Plus protocols for the week of March 8th due to each of our local criteria being in the Green Plus zone or better.  The major difference in the protocols is that students will not be required to mask (they may mask if they choose) in the classroom unless they are involved in close-contact activities, i.e. a lab, cooperative learning groups, spotting during Weights, etc.

We are not out of the pandemic.  But, we believe our numbers make it appropriate to move to our Green Plus protocols.  Heads up, though, we will use our Amber protocols in the week following Spring Break due to the frequency of travel for our students during Spring Break; this was one of our Green Plus protocols.  We continue to work with the Pratt County Health Department to clear the major items with them, and I want to emphasize how fortunate we are to have great leadership here in Pratt County.

The numbers could climb again.  Certainly, as a community we are becoming looser and only time will tell if that leads to a surge.  So, we must be mentally prepared to advance to Amber protocols if that becomes warranted.

Our wrestlers had some big-time success at the State level with Livia Swift winning a State Championship, the girls taking 2nd overall, and Devon Weber taking 2nd (a couple of weight classes heavier than his previous State championships).  It took dedication to each other and following some common-sense measures to allow us to keep competing and staying in school.  We must still be vigilant because we have spring activities and one more quarter of school.  I want our community and students to feel good about what we have accomplished, adapt, but be ready to adapt again.

Students will still need to enter building with a mask, and masks will be universally required at passing periods and close-contact activities.  And, we will use Amber protocols when we return from Spring Break to give a one-week buffer after the travel.  Then, we will use our local numbers to determine our zone each week.

We appreciate your support.  Go Green!

Respectfully,

Tony Helfrich
