April 9, 2021 Update from the Superintendent
Greenback Family,
Today, at approximately 1:15 pm, we received information of a possible, non-student threat that was a concern for Pratt High School. We immediately employed our Heightened Awareness protocols for the school campus and worked together with our School Resource Officer (SRO) and local law enforcement.
Law enforcement in another county investigated and resolved this threat. We greatly appreciate their work and the work of our city and county law enforcement in protecting our community. This is an opportune moment to acknowledge the value of Officer Gimpel, our School Resource Officer, who helps coordinate our safety operations. We also want to acknowledge the Pratt Police Department for their efforts in securing the grant that helps provide an SRO for our school district and community.
I realize our high level of alert was very obvious. We do choose to respond with utmost caution on a potential safety matter until it can be resolved. At this time, this is a matter for law enforcement and we appear to have a very indirect connection to the concern. As a parent, I know the absence of details can be a source of anxiety. We value your trust, and I want you to know that the safety of our kids is priority one. That will drive our policies and actions. We review our safety protocols with law enforcement in order to operate best practices.
We appreciate your support.
Respectfully,
Tony Helfrich
