Greenback Hall of Fame Class of 2022

It is my privilege to announce the 2022 Greenback Hall of Fame Class. The 2022 inductees are Carter Barker, Ray Immell, Tobin Melroy, and Lieutenant Colonel John R. Schwartz.  Congratulations to each inductee and their family! The Induction Ceremony will be on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 5:00 pm in the Vernon Filley Art Museum. Ticket information for the event will be announced later this summer. Inductees will also be introduced at the Homecoming Assembly at 1:30 pm in the PHS gym.  Each inductees' picture will be permanently displayed in the Greenback Hall of Fame Display located in the Pratt High School Commons.

 

The Greenback Hall of Fame was established as a way to honor and recognize the successes and accomplishments of Pratt High School alumni. These inductees will join the other HOF individuals, alumni and contributors who have made a significant contribution to the Greenback traditions of grit, team, respect, passion, and valor.  The Greenback Hall of Fame Display and HOF Induction Ceremony are both funded through donations and at no cost to the USD 382 taxpayers.

 

Here is a brief introduction to the 2022 Greenback Hall of Fame Class:

 

Carter Barker (posthumously)

Carter graduated from PHS in 1950. He was a lifetime Greenback Booster Club member and an avid Greenback fan missing only one home football game in 74 years. He was a Charter Board Member of the Pratt County Achievement Place and the Pratt Teen Center.  He served on the Pratt County Fair Board and Pratt Community College Beaver Booster Board.  In addition, he taught Senior High School Sunday School at the United Methodist Church for over 40 years.  Carter's legacy touched many Greenback lives for over 70 years.

 

Tobin Melroy

Tobin is currently a flight shuttle engineer for NASA.   In his role, he answers directly to the Flight Director. During real time Shuttle missions, he is responsible for managing and leading the entire flight planning team of 24 people to implement flight crew activities and procedures in real-time.  After graduation from PHS in 1995, Tobin obtained an Aerospace Engineering Degree from Kansas University.   His achievements include many honors and awards directly related to him personally achieving excellence as part of the NASA team.

 

Lieutenant Colonel John R. Schwartz

Lieutenant Colonel Schwartz is currently the Commander of the 89th Operations Support Squadron at Joint Base Andrew outside Washington D.C.  He oversees a 120 member team that advances national interests by delivering diplomacy around the world.  He is currently a pilot on the C-32A, a VIP aircraft, flying worldwide missions for the Vice President and the First Lady of the United States.   John graduated from PHS in 2000 as the Valedictorian and Male Senior Athlete.  He attended the Air Force Academy, where he played football and majored in Engineering Mechanics.

 

Raymond Immell (posthumously)

Ray was the president of Denmar Technical Services.  Throughout his career, Ray used his extremely high intelligence to invent and oversee quality control of classified national defense projects.  Ray was a recognized expert at stealth technology and developed systems to ensure that stealth aircraft were functioning as designed.  The Secretary of the Air Force praised his work and expertise and colleagues called Ray a "National Hero with a rare combination of integrity, competence and leadership". Ray graduated from PHS in 1967 and received Bachelor and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University.
