7-21-22 Facilities Update
Greenback Parents,
This is an update for all parents and patrons. I hope this message finds you able to enjoy summer activities with friends and family.
We appreciate receiving important feedback on our facilities survey conducted in early May. While the survey results did indicate a slight majority in favor of the recommended plan, we feel it is best to slow down and get more input. To this end, we will select an architect to do more detailed planning and include some building tours and input sessions over the course of the 2022-23 school year. Being in a volatile construction market presents another challenge with planning a significant project at this time. We do want to take advantage of some of our ESSER (federal pandemic relief dollars) funding where appropriate for the recommended project in order to be good stewards of our resources. Ultimately, we want any project to make our school better positioned to serve our kids and our community for the long term.
Our facilities planning feeds into our overall long-term strategic planning. We held community input sessions in May that brought together district staff with parents and patrons. Our board members reviewed that input and are prioritizing goals. We will review our strategic plan with our building site councils and, of course, adapt to changing needs over time. Our building site councils meet on the second Monday of September, October, November, January, February, and April at 5:45 pm. If you have an interest in participating, please contact the appropriate building principal in August.
